Ohio has a statewide workforce of six million: more than the total population most states can claim. With 180,000 graduating high school seniors and more than 78,000 college graduates ready to join the workforce every year, Ohio is a juggernaut of worker productivity.

Ohio's primary regions each play to their market strengths, and area workforce and education opportunities are no exception. Representing the nation's third-largest manufacturing economy, Ohio's regions have carved dominant employee expertise and supportive education systems.

For example, in northeastern Ohio, a history in the polymer industry launched by rubber has created the next generation of polymer specialists skilled in all aspects of the technologically advanced field. Three of the world's top polymer universities, including the University of Akron and its Goodyear Polymer Center, are in Ohio.

Likewise, Ohio's emergence in biotechnology in the "three-C" markets of Cleveland, Columbus and Cincinnati – and beyond – is producing an army of bioscience employees. Twenty-five Ohio higher education institutions offer biotechnology programs among Ohio's 43 research and medical institutions, supporting major employers including Cincinnati-headquartered Procter & Gamble Pharmaceuticals.

Ohio's 52 postsecondary education institutions produce future workers at every conceivable organizational skill level and provide corporate resources for further education and training.
