China is an important trading partner and Chinese corporations are starting to invest in the state of Ohio. The Shanghai based Ohio China Center was established in 2006 to expand business investment opportunities and trade between Ohio and China. In 2008, Ohio opened a second office in Beijing, China to complement the efforts to bolster trade relations with China. Currently there are more than 2,400 employees working for Chinese corporations in Ohio.
In addition, Ohio exported $1.9 billion worth of products to China in 2009, double the exports since 2005, making it Ohio's third largest export destination after Canada and Mexico.
